3.20.09 - Dan to Leave The Turnpikes in 2010.
After 10+ years of playing music with the Turnpikes I have made the decision that at the end of this year I will be leaving the band. We have dates booked through the end of the year & I don't want to leave my bandmates or any of the places we're booked hanging so I will honor the remaining dates. However as of 2010 I will no longer be a member of this band.

This is a decision I have been contemplating for close to a year now & the simple truth is I'm not having a good time doing it anymore. Once the fun is gone I see no point in continuing. I still Love Russell, Chuck & Pete like brothers & there are no hard feelings in this split.

Words can't describe my gratitude & appreciation & I sincerely thank everyone that has supported us through these last 10 years. As I stated I will be playing the remainder of our gigs this year so if you would like to come out & party with us by all means do so! All dates are listed on the "Gigs" page.

Thanks again folks.
Cheers,
-ddmc

11.08.08 - R.I.P. Pat Barton.
I would like to send heartfelt condolences to the friends & family of Pat Barton. Pat was the long time bass player for local Lake County Ohio band Fat City, a friend & all around great guy. Pat passed away a little over a week ago after having complications from a stroke he suffered 2 weeks ago. I had the pleasure of seeing Pat perform with the Fat City guys a number of times over the years. He was gracious enough to fill in for Cooter at a Rambler 454 gig a few years back as well. Pat's laid back, good natured demeanor will be greatly missed.

10.29.08 - THANK YOU!!!
I'd like to send a HUGE THANK YOU out to everyone that came out to the Grog Shop last Saturday night for the free Rambler 454 show! Great to see so many of you! I hope you can make it out again on Dec. 6 & bring even more people. We're toying with the idea of making that one a Fourth Of July theme. Whether or not we actually do that is unclear right now but admission WILL be free & there WILL be free beer again. Thanks again folks!
-ddmc
10.7.08 - Rambler 454 To Play 2 FREE SHOWS.
Rambler 454 will be performing 2 free shows @ the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights, OH. The first of which will be Oct. 25 & the second will be Dec. 6. There are no opening bands, just Rambler rocking it all night. As an added incentive the band is offering FREE BEER! No shit!!! Your first 2 beers are on us. For more details on the free beer promotion send an e-mail to tim@rambler454.com

5.14.08 - "Headlands" Now Available.
Dan's first solo album, "Headlands," which was recorded at the tail end of 2006 & early 2007 is finally available. Check it out on the "Music/Video" page.

4.27.08 - Solo Album Update.
Some folks have been asking the status of the solo record Dan is recording & here's the latest from the man himself..."We have about 3/4 of the recording done with a few songs left to go. It's coming along very nice & the sound is pretty much what I've heard in my head all along. Russell (from The Turnpikes) has done a FANTASTIC job laying the drum tracks down & Greg Markell came in to do vocals for one song. He too did an AWESOME job! Working with Clint (Holley of Hayshaker Jones) has been a blast & we're both very excited & pleased with the results thus far.  We still don't have a title for the whole thing just yet but the leading candidates are "Moving Day", "The Journeyman" & "Elevator Avenue," all of which are songs on the album. I originally planned to put 10 songs on there but it's looking more like 11 now with one song being lifted from the internet only, acoustic record I did last year with Chris Viola. With any luck this thing may be ready to fly by the end of summer but for now I'm looking at a mid-fall release." Fingers crossed & more to come soon.

2.8.08 - Tonight's Turnpikes show is CANCELED.
Due to the Lovely weather in this region (Cleveland-ish, OH) tonight's Turnpikes show @ the Firehouse has been canceled. T-Pikes will be back on Apr. 12 barring any natural disasters. Sorry for the inconvenience.

2.18.08 - THANK YOU!!!
Thanks to everyone that made it out to Mullarkey's in downtown Willoughby, OH last Saturday for the little fund raiser thing we had going on. Your donations are GREATLY appreciated and at last count $350 have been raised. I know there are a few more folks that are going to donate so that count will rise a bit. Every little bit helps & on behalf of Caroline's family THANK YOU for your support!!!

2.04.08 - Feb. Mullarkey's Show = Fund Raiser.
Sweet Caroline...needs YOUR help. At the Feb. 16 show @ Mullarkey's there will be folks on hand to collect donations for our friend Caroline. She was born 13 years ago on Feb 1st at 4 lbs. with Spina Bifita.  After the tumor was removed  she weighed 1 1/2 lbs!!!   Drs. didn't think she'd live.  They could only guess to how she'd be damaged both mentally and physically.  They figured everything from the waist down would be non-functioning. She had several surgeries before the age of 2. There are pictures of her scooting along the floor in a cast that went from her waist to her toes. She's proved them WRONG time and again. Caroline's an 8th grader at Kirtland Middle taking advanced classes in Algebra and Spanish at the High School.  She's an active member of the builder's club  ( Jr. version of the Kiwanis) and the student council. Feb 24th Caroline goes into the hospital for her 1st surgery. They need to give her a new urethra ( tube that connects the kidney  to the bladder) They'll take part of her intestine for this. The surgery is hard and painful and the recovery time is three months!!!  Caroline is a very old soul.  She has 2 bros.  Logan,12, plays guitar, football etc. boy stuff,  and Wyatt, 9,  who has been taking karate  for about a year now.  Meg  Kaylor,  Mom , is a lab tech, avid reader and very strong woman.  Caroline's Dad died in Jan of last year. Horrible car crash. There is speculation & hope  Meg will be there for the opening of the show.  We're hoping the show will make people aware of the living donor program of the Cleveland Clinic. Caroline still needs a kidney.

From Dan: If you can make this show please do so. Any money you can spare will be GREATLY appreciated. People will be on hand to collect donations and any money that is put in my tip jar that night will be going towards Caroline's medical expenses. Hope to see you there and if you can't make the show then please

Thank you in advance.

1.20.08 - New Solo Album.
Dan & fellow Turnpikes drummer Russell Fleckenstein headed to the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland to lay drum tracks down for 3 of the albums 10 songs. McCoy is being somewhat tight lipped about this album but did have this to say..."There will be 10 songs, 9 of which are originals. There will be some guest appearances from local area musicians with the sound kind of being "Rambler-lite" (referring to his band Rambler 454)."

No release date has been set other than late spring/early summer. As more info becomes available updates will be posted here.
